Acreage and Privacy

Welcome to beautiful Hornby Island and a complete retreat from the hustle and bustle of life in the city (or wherever you are!).

This west coast style house is situated on 12 acres of quiet secluded property on Central Road. It is just a short ten - minute walk to the Co-op and ringside market or to spectacular Tribune Bay Beach. You can hideaway at the back of this property amongst the beautiful Maple trees and listen to the birds or you can head to the beach or the local cafes and enjoy the rich creative culture of this special island.

The house was built in 1995 by a local designer and features sky lights, a wood burning stove, a lovely double window seat, loft bed and modern décor. It is fully furnished for the vacationer .

The kitchen is fully equipped with new appliances and all dishes, silverware, pots, pans and utensils that you might need. The stove is propane with automatic burners and all propane is included. There are baseboard heaters as well as the wood stove for heat.

The house comfortably sleeps six to eight people. There are two bedrooms upstairs and a double bed at one end of the large living room down stairs.

The master bedroom has a queen sized bed and the second bedroom has a double loft bed and two single beds below. This can work well for two or three couples or two families who have one or two children (or any other combination you might have!).

There is an indoor bathroom with a tub, sink and night port-a-potty. There is a very attractive and clean outhouse behind the house (due to ground water shortages there is not a septic field as so much water is used by conventional toilets).

In addition to the indoor tub there is an outdoor shower with hot and cold running water and an outdoor tub, both of which are private and a delight to bathe in! There is a washing machine and an outdoor clothes line as well as an indoor drying rack.

The water is from a deep well and is not sulphur-tasting. There is plenty of water if used carefully but water conservation during the dry summer months is strongly encouraged.

There is a lovely south-facing deck on the front of the house and a terrific rope swing for the young people (or the young at heart!). Other conveniences include a gas barbecue, phone (you can only use a calling card for long distance calls), a TV and VCR. and a number of novels, videos and games.

What do you bring?

Quilts and pillows are provided but renters need to bring towels, sheets, pillow cases and any other personal-use linens (such as your favourite pillow).

A strap on booster/high chair is available as well as a Graco travel cot.

You may wish to bring other electronics such as CD players etc.

What do we provide?

All furnishings, propane, heat, wood for burning, cleaning things (dish soap, Toilet Paper, laundry soap and other cleaners), vacuum, broom, mop, dish towels and cloths, hand soap, etc.
