Designed in 1998 by noted Blue Sky architect Michael McNamara, this original dwelling is backed by forest and looks across Georgia Strait at Vancouver Island's mountains. We have one of Hornby Island's most peaceful yet breathtaking views.
Built on the Island's heights with a panoramic view of sea, sky and mountains and backed by deep woods, our home has an arching sod roof, 14’ ceilings, floor-to ceiling windows and a 48’-long wrap-around deck. Two intimate 20’ x 12’ rooms, plus an open 12’ x 10’ loft/study provide three sleeping areas. Each has a double futon, providing beds for up to 6 people. The main (20’ x 12’) living space has a fully-equipped modern galley kitchen and dining area and a full bathroom with an over sized tiled shower. Water is chlorine-free and UV-filtered. Its futon couch converts easily into a double bed. A stair-ladder leads to the sleeping loft above. The second 20’ x 12’ room, with separate outside entrance, provides a completely private sleeping/lounging/living space, with high, wide views of the forest on three sides; patio doors open onto the deck. A washer/dryer is provided, as are linens, blankets, towels and allergy-free pillows. As well, wireless internet, a stereo, DVD player and VCR are provided, along with an extensive collection of books, videos, CDs and games. On the deck are a barbecue, table, chairs and recliners, encouraging outdoor dining and sun-bathing – with soaring eagles at eye-level and deer browsing in the meadow below. A hammock hangs between two trees, and a mosaic table at the bottom of the property, overlooking the cliff, is ideal for an inspiring morning coffee or before-dinner drinks, offering idyllic privacy, peacefulness and a magnificent view. Private and serene, yet minutes away from all the Island's attractions, and is ideal for a single family.
